Mayo Made.
New York Shaped.
Meet Liam Groarke — an Irish-born New Yorker, entrepreneur and lifelong member of the diaspora, sharing the Ireland he knows with Irish people and friends of Ireland around the world.
It Started in County Mayo
Liam's story begins near Kiltimagh, County Mayo, where he grew up on a small farm before eventually making a life across the Atlantic in New York.
Like generations of Irish people before him, leaving Ireland didn't mean leaving Ireland behind. Mayo, its people and the traditions he grew up with remained part of everyday life — even thousands of miles from home.
New York became home too. Over the decades, Liam built businesses, friendships and connections within one of the world's great Irish communities, living the experience that now sits at the heart of KelticMan.
Ireland Never Really Leaves You
KelticMan lives in the space familiar to millions of Irish people around the world — rooted in Ireland while building a life somewhere else.
County Mayo
The small-farm upbringing, the local characters, the GAA, the stories and the unmistakable sense of place that formed Liam's first idea of home.
New York
Nearly four decades of business, community and Irish-American life in a city where generations of Irish emigrants have found opportunity while keeping their connection to Ireland.
Building Irish Businesses in New York
Long before KelticMan became an online project, Liam had spent decades building businesses connected to New York's Irish community.
In 1999 he founded Rent A Kilt, which grew into a New York destination for kilt rentals and formal Celtic attire, serving customers locally and shipping across the United States.
The business also developed alongside Irish Gift Products, extending that connection with Ireland through gifts and Irish products.
Rent A Kilt
Founded by Liam in New York, bringing traditional kilt rental and formal Celtic attire to customers across America.
Irish Gift Products
A sister business extending Liam's long-running connection with Irish products, heritage and customers across the US.
KelticMan
A different kind of Irish venture — built around stories, culture, news, humour and keeping the worldwide Irish community connected.
A New Hobby With Old Roots
With more time to follow the stories, people and conversations that have always interested him, Liam began KelticMan as a way to bring those things together — Ireland, Irish America and the worldwide diaspora in one place.
Ireland — Wherever You Are
KelticMan isn't just about looking back at Ireland. It's about keeping up with the Ireland of today while celebrating everything that keeps people connected to it.
Ireland
News, places, history, traditions and the characters that make the country what it is.
The Diaspora
Irish communities, people and stories from New York to cities around the world.
Sport
Mayo GAA, Gaelic games and the Irish sporting stories worth talking about.
For The Craic
Because an Irish site that takes itself too seriously wouldn't feel very Irish at all.
Pull Up a Chair. You're Among Friends.
Whether you're in Ireland, left years ago, were born abroad to Irish parents or grandparents, or simply have a love for the country — there's a place for you here.
Welcome to KelticMan.
